RC4 Available Now - Mnemonic Passphrases, and Subscription Changes

We've updated the Signata website to now let you download the desktop app again. We disabled it for a couple of days, just to make sure new users didn't use the old version and potentially set up their account with the outdated approach we were using.

So, what's changed? We've done 2 massive things, one of which is still a work in progress.

Change 1 - Mnemonic Passphrases

The biggest risk to your Signata data being stolen is using a weak recovery passphrase. So, we've taken the choice of creating your own passphrase away and now we generate it for you using the BIP39 algorithm. This algorithm creates a 12 word mnemonic, which is super secure but also super easy to write down on a piece of paper.

Oh and you can also change your passphrase now if you wish. You generally shouldn't need to, because you'll only ever use it a couple of times, but the option is there now :)

What the mnemonics look like. This isn't a real one, it's just an example.

Change 2 - Goodbye Subscriptions

We're in the process of overhauling how we charge for our services. For now, we've disabled the subscription checks on events in the product. You can add as many Addresses and Devices as you like now, as well as make transfers, all for free. You don't have to go through the Subscriptions page yet.

We will be charging very small fees for transaction processing (i.e. transferring coins), but that will just scale with how much you use the product. More on this to come in the next couple of days.

We hope we haven't introduced any critical bugs, but please be wary when testing our Release Candidates, and let us know if you run into any issues.
